Reds Manager Bryan Price Goes On 5 Minute Profanity Laden Tirade, Plus Top 5 Coach Rants Of All Time
MILWAUKEE — Reds manager Bryan Price showed the same frustration that has welled up among the team’s fanbase as the team came off four straight losses and seven losses in eight games. Instead of lashing out at his team’s offensive woes, bullpen blowups or the cards dealt to him by his general manager, Price went off on the media. Upset by the accurate reports that All-Star catcher Devin Mesoraco was not with the team for Sunday’s game in St. Louis, Price went on a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade in his daily session with reporters in advance of the Reds’ 6-1 win Monday night in Milwaukee.
“I don’t know what the importance is for everyone to know if we have a player that’s not here,” Price said. “We don’t benefit at all from the other teams knowing we don’t have a player.” The Enquirer reported after Sunday’s game that Mesoraco was not available for pinch-hitting duties in the Reds’ 2-1 loss in St. Louis. When asked after the game if Mesoraco was a consideration in that spot, Price said he was not.

Love it, been a long time since we’ve had a good old fashioned Manager meltdown. And I know some people will say it’s pretty early in the season to be flipping out like this but let’s get a little context. I’m pretty sure the reporter that got blown up on this tirade is Trent Rosecrans. The same Trent Rosecrans who got into it with Brandon Phillips
Added bonus when he corrects Dusty’s english like a jackass at the 28 mark. “It’s between him and me”
This guy.
Without having intimate knowledge of the Cincinnati Media I’m guessing he’s a little bit of a shit stirrer, one of those media guys who revels in misery and dysfunction. Every city has them, every sports fan knows who they are and knows that things like this are always on the cusp of happening. So yeah, Bryan Price went on a tirade and is probably lashing out as his own shitty baseball team and poor managing skills but a shot in the dark says it wasn’t totally undeserved. Just like he said, he’s honest with those guys and then they stick that honesty up his fucking ass, or something.
Props to the guy who had to write this whole thing out.
Now without further ado, my top 5 manager/coach blow ups (Sorry Bryan Price, you don’t make it), also a quick shout out to a personal favorite because of the quotability, Jim Calhoun.
“You want me to say I fucked up, I fucked up, write it, I took Emeka Okafor and Caron Butler, they’re NOT BAD”
5. Mike Singletary, 49ers and Dennis Green, Cardinals – Yeah I just started a top 5 list with a tie, whatever, I love both of these.
“Can not play with them, can not win with them, can’t do it”
“The Bears are who we thought they were, and we let em off the hook”
4. Hal McRae, Kansas City Royals – when all else fails start throwing shit everywhere.
“Tired of all these stupid ass questions” “Put that in your pipe and smoke it”
3. Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State
“I’m a man, I’m FORTY”
2. Jim Mora, Colts
“Playoffs, Playoffs????”
1. Lee Elia, Chicago Cubs – Still the gold standard
On Cubs fans who go to day baseball games – “85% of the world is working, the other 15% come here, fucking playground for the cocksuckers”
